Berlin Springs Pavilion
The Famous Berlin Rock
The Berlin Rock in Lewisburg stands as a symbol of Tennessee’s lively political past and enduring community spirit. First used in 1844 when President James K. Polk addressed a crowd at Berlin Springs, the massive stone became a stage for governors, senators, and statesmen for decades to come. In 1886, it was famously hauled by mule team to the Lewisburg Courthouse for a campaign speech by Governor Bob Taylor, where it later earned its place as a treasured historic landmark.
Today, the Berlin Rock rests beside a crystal-clear spring under the Berlin Springs Pavilion, a beautiful open-air venue surrounded by nature. The pavilion provides a peaceful and scenic setting for events and gatherings, offering visitors a glimpse of the same landscape that once echoed with the voices of history.
