"Crafting Whiskey" Mural
Art Meets Tradition in Tennessee Whiskey Country
On the banks of Mulberry Creek, just a mile from Lynchburg’s historic square, visitors will find a striking tribute to Tennessee’s distilling heritage: the “Crafting Whiskey” mural by acclaimed artist Kim Radford. Completed in April 2025 as part of the Tennessee Whiskey Trail Mural Project, this vibrant piece marks the entrance to The Retreat at Whiskey Creek, a luxury tiny home community, and serves as a bold welcome to Tennessee Whiskey Country.
Painted on the side of a covered bridge, the mural illustrates the four steps of the Lincoln County Process, the charcoal mellowing method that defines Tennessee whiskey. Using bold blocks of color, stylized pictographs, and a warm mid-century-inspired palette, Radford captures both the science and soul behind the region’s most iconic export.
“Crafting Whiskey” is more than just a photo-worthy stop—it’s a visual story of craftsmanship, community, and legacy. The mural also serves as a bonus stop on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail. Visitors who check in at all three Phase 1 mural locations (Lynchburg, Fayetteville, and Wartrace) can collect a limited-edition poker chip from the Tennessee Whiskey Trailhead in Lynchburg.
With the mural’s location downstream from the Jack Daniel’s Distillery and in the heart of a region home to six iconic distilleries, this stop invites travelers to explore the roots of Tennessee whiskey while experiencing the creativity and collaboration that continue to shape its future.
