Head of the Crow State Park
About Head of the Crow State Park
Head of the Crow opened in 2025 and spans more than 4,200 acres of pristine wilderness in Franklin County. This protected landscape is home to rare species, ancient sandstone formations, and some of the most remarkable geology in the state. Visitors can explore easy-to-moderate hiking trails leading to natural wonders like Sewanee Natural Bridge and Buggytop Cave, one of Tennessee’s largest cave openings. The park also features striking karst terrain, underground streams, and rare wildlife including the elusive Painted Tigersnail, found only in this region.
Head of the Crow brings together four state natural areas (Sherwood Forest, Hawkins Cove, the Carter Natural Area, and Natural Bridge) offering incredible opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography.
